Sea changers face costly surprise when their plans to relocate to the United States are blocked by President Donald Trump

The plan was originally expected to be complete by November, but on Friday the Department of Homeland Security said the agency would delay the application by more than a year, while DHS officials in Washington, DC and New Orleans said they are in the mids우리카지노t of implementing the plan.

The Obama administration in early 2015 had intended to allow about 20,000 workers who relocated overseas to be eligible for H-1B visas, which allow Americans to fill highly skilled jobs and to bring family members back to the United States.

US-based companies such as Disney, Walmart, American Airlines and Microsoft are moving to invest billions of dollars in the United States and hiring hundreds of thousands of American workers.

But in the past year, companies in at least two countries have said they will not allow these workers to come back into the US to work, citing Trump’s rhetoric on immigration.

On Friday DHS Secretary John Kelly said the department will look at the situation as well as other potential hurdles that might need to be overcome before any American workers move to the United States. He said the department would use the existing H-1B visa process in the meantime.

“We want to be mindful of where we need to benatyasastra.com,” Kelly told reporters at the agency’s headquarters. “If we have an opportunity in a future interview or review, we will look at the whole opportunity across that process, even beyond that one.”

The immigration officials say they hope to complete the dec바카라ision by November, and that the new hiring will occur before the end of the current fiscal year.

DHS said about 3,000 foreign workers can fill all positions at American companies from January through June of the current fiscal year, although those numbers may increase to 6,500 or more. Officials did not provide an estimate on how many of those positions may remain open over the next 12 months.

The H-1B program was announced by Obama in 2013 and set to be extended for six years in 2016, but Trump’s administration has halted that extension.
